How to read your daily sales report
Gross sales, profit, dues and cash in hand — what each number on the daily report tells you, and what to do about it.
The daily sales report is the quickest way to know how today went. Here's what each part means.
Gross sales and returns
Gross sales is everything rung up today. Returns are taken off to give net sales — the money that actually stayed in the business.
Profit
Profit is net sales minus what those products cost you. If it looks low, check discounts and whether costs are up to date.
Dues
Dues are sales customers haven't paid for yet. Keep an eye on who owes what; SortPi keeps each customer's history in one place.
Cash in hand
Cash in hand should match the till at closing. A gap means a missed sale, a wrong change or a payment taken another way.
